The state of Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a fuel crunch as of April 27, 2026, and many residents are in a panic mode. More than 421 petrol stations among 4,510 have closed down owing to their empty tanks, while long queues of people can be seen at the other stations due to an increase of around 50 percent in sales, following rumors about a shortage. According to officials, including Minister Nadendla Manohar, there is no fuel crunch, as it was only because of social media propaganda, along with minor shortages from oil companies. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu analyzed the problem, and directed all steps to restore normalcy with a rise in 10 percent in oil distribution by the companies and opening of depots. The Petroleum Ministry confirms sufficient stock at the national level. This situation has emerged due to the fluctuations in the international prices of crude oil, and purchase of crops in large quantities.
